Nowgam Police Station Blast: Late on Friday night, a strong unintentional explosion at the Nowgam Police Station on the outskirts of Srinagar resulted in nine deaths and 29 injuries, most of whom were police officers and forensic specialists. The explosion happened at approximately 11:20 PM when explosives were being extracted and examined as part of a significant terror module investigation.
Blast Due Ammonium Nitrate Mixtures:
The explosion occurred while teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Jammu & Kashmir Police, and a Tehsildar were examining a sizable cache of explosive material, according to officials. The explosives, which were mostly combinations based on ammonium nitrate, were found in the rented home of jailed physician Muzammil Ganaie in Faridabad, Haryana.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a sizable amount of the 360 kg of explosive materials that were taken from him was kept at the Nowgam Police Station.

Immediate Evacuation – Major Damage:
The injured were transported by authorities to many hospitals in Srinagar. The bodies of the deceased, whose bodies were recovered early on Saturday morning, have been moved to the Police Control Room in Srinagar but have not yet been officially recognized.
In addition to destroying cars parked on the property and seriously damaging the police station structure, the explosion also caused a series of smaller explosions that delayed bomb disposal crews’ rescue efforts.
