Blue Aadhaar Card: Why It Becomes Invalid After Age Five

Blue Aadhaar Card:

The Aadhaar card is now an essential identification document. People need it for government schemes, school admissions, banking, and other official purposes.Normally, an Aadhaar card remains valid for life. Children under five, however, receive a special Blue Aadhaar card. Its validity and process differ from the standard Aadhaar.

Blue Aadhaar Card:

The Blue Aadhaar card is issued to children under five years of age. It has a distinct blue design for easy identification. This card does not require biometric data such as fingerprints or iris scans. The card links the child’s information to a parent or guardian’s Aadhaar. Parents or guardians must have their Aadhaar card to enroll the child.

When and Why to Update

Once a child turns five, this card requires updating. Biometric details like fingerprints and iris scans must be added. This update ensures smooth access to government schemes and services in the future. Parents must visit an Aadhaar service center to complete this process. The update is free of cost, and the Aadhaar number does not change. Only biometric information is added.

How to Get or Update Blue Aadhaar

Parents can visit the UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in. They can navigate to the “My Aadhaar” tab and select “Book an Appointment.” Choose the nearest UIDAI service center, enter mobile number and captcha, and receive an OTP. Visit the center on the scheduled date to complete the update.

Blue Aadhaar cards make government benefits and services accessible to children. Timely updating after five years avoids issues in the future. Parents must ensure the biometric information is added before the card expires.
