Kaantha 2 Days Box Office Collections: Dulquet Salmaan’s Kaantha has been one of the most unusual releases of the season, combining an intense survival drama with profound emotional layers. However, the box office journey has continued to be unpredictable for the film. Now that the three-day weekend collections are in, it’s time to answer: How much more does Kaantha need to break even?
Not great numbers but good enough considering its net of ₹4.35 crore on Day 1 across Tamil and Telugu versions combined, opening Kaantha. The film received a boost on the second day, garnering ₹4.85 crore, thanks to much better Tamil occupancy and some terrific buzz built among city audiences.
But then, on Sunday, there was a massive drop in income. Preliminary estimates indicate that Kaantha only made about ₹0.06 crore, leaving it at a total of ₹9.26 crore for the three-day weekend. This sudden dip has raised a lot of uncertainty regarding the film’s long-term box-office run.
Plastic characters whom people identify with can be added to those things:
Cricket match and festival distractions affecting footfalls
Cult genre making it harder for common audiences to connect
Mixed reviews about Dulquer’s performance but uneven screenplay.
Although the film did reasonably well at multiplexes in Tamil Nadu, the Telugu version stayed constant but did not translate into any significant growth.
Industry observers will claim that Kaantha’s total theatrical rights were brought in the ₹22-25 crore bracket across all languages, while the net numbers stand as of now at ₹9.26 crore; Kaantha has recovered a shade under 45% on its overall investment.
Safe breakeven would be around ₹22 crore net; hence it remains a tall order for Kaantha with ₹12-13 crore still to be made through box office earnings alone.

Next week definitely decides the film’s fate. If Kaantha retains at least ₹1.5–2 crore a day, it has a shaded chance for coverage. Good footfall in metros and good word-of-mouth do help, but the drop on Sunday set it on a tightrope. For now, Kaantha has to show solid weekday hold that will keep it on course for breakeven.
