1GM Gold Jewellery:
Many people today like to buy jewellery that looks like gold but comes at a very low price. Especially during festivals and weddings, women choose attractive ornaments that look real but are affordable. Because of this trend, one-gram gold jewellery has become very popular. However, most people do not know the real truth behind it.
One-gram gold jewellery is not real gold. It only looks like gold from the outside. These ornaments are made using metals like copper, brass or other alloys. Later, a thin layer of gold colour is added through electroplating or gold foil coating. This is why it shines like real gold even though there is no actual gold inside.
The price difference also tells the truth. Currently, 1 gram of 22K gold costs around ₹11,000. But one-gram gold jewellery is sold online for ₹300 to ₹500, and some designs cost up to ₹2,000 or ₹3,000. If the jewellery truly contained real gold, it could not be sold at such a low price. Still, many buyers mistakenly think they are purchasing gold and get confused by the name.
It is also important to remember that one-gram gold has no resale value. You cannot sell it back to a jeweller and get money. Only real gold and diamonds have resale value. Even if a shopkeeper claims that it can be resold, you should ask whether their own shop will buy it back. This will reveal the truth.
Even then, one-gram jewellery has its own advantages. It looks beautiful, comes in many designs, and is perfect for festivals, weddings, or functions. There is less fear of theft because it is inexpensive. Many modern and traditional styles are also available easily.
However, it should not be worn every day. If used regularly, the outer layer fades or peels off. Good-quality designs may last a little longer, but they still cannot replace real gold.
Finally, the name “one-gram gold” is only a marketing technique. It does not mean the jewellery contains even one gram of gold. So, if you plan to buy such ornaments, buy them only for looks—not as an investment.
