iBomma Piracy Case: Piracy is one of the biggest problems for the Telugu film industry. Today, technology has advanced so much that piracy sites upload movies as soon as they are released in theatres. This has deeply affected heroes, producers, and directors.
After many years, the industry finally got a small relief. The popular piracy site iBomma has been shut down. The police recently arrested the mastermind behind the site, which was widely used by Telugu audiences. After his arrest, the site was completely closed.
But this does not mean the piracy problem is over. Piracy is like a big tree with strong roots, and iBomma is just one branch. It is good that the police caught Ravi, the person who ran the site, but shutting down one website will not stop piracy. There are hundreds of similar sites still active. These sites also need to be shut down one by one. If the police and government take the issue seriously, it can be controlled. The question is whether they will show the same dedication for the remaining sites as they did for iBomma.

It’s not just piracy websites. Even platforms like Google host hundreds of unsafe APK apps that are not available on the official Play Store. Some educated users download and use these apps without thinking. On the other hand, many uneducated users know only one or two piracy sites. Surprisingly, educated users are also encouraging piracy by using these platforms. The people operating these websites may not even be from India, making it harder for police to track them.
Apart from fighting piracy, the film industry also needs to look at other issues. Ticket prices should be reasonable, and filmmakers should focus on strong content instead of routine stories. If good movies are made at fair prices, audiences will return to theatres, which naturally reduces piracy. Otherwise, the problem will continue as before.
