IRCTC Alert to Passengers:
Indian Railways has taken an important step to improve the food service at railway stations. Many passengers often face problems like high food prices, low quality, less quantity, or unhygienic conditions at stalls. To solve these issues quickly and smoothly, the Chennai Railway Division has started a new QR code–based complaint system.
This new facility is now available at all restaurants and food stalls on the platforms. A special QR code is placed at each food counter. Passengers who buy food at the station can simply scan this code using their mobile camera or any scanner app. Once scanned, details such as the restaurant name, its exact location, and the station code will appear on the screen automatically.
After scanning the code, passengers can directly register their complaint through the official railway app Rail Madad. The app allows users to complain about issues like food price, quality, quantity, drinking water availability, or cleanliness. While submitting the complaint, the passenger has to enter their mobile number. An OTP will be sent for verification. After this, they can type a short description of the problem and submit it.
Once the complaint is registered, the passenger will immediately receive an acknowledgement number. This helps them track the status of their complaint anytime on the app. The railway administration will send the complaint directly to restaurant inspectors and station managers. This system is expected to help officials respond faster and correct any service problems quickly.
Many passengers have welcomed this modern initiative. They feel that it makes the complaint process easy, transparent, and peaceful. There is no need to argue with staff at the food stalls. Everything can be done with the help of technology.
The Railways believe that this new “QR Line” facility will protect passengers’ rights and ensure better food quality at stations. It also helps build trust between passengers and railway officials. Overall, this change is seen as a major step toward improving the travel experience for millions of people across the country.
