120 Bahadur Budget: Of the more recent Hindi war films, 120 Bahadur is one of the most ambitious endeavors, produced by Excel Entertainment under the direction of Razneesh “Razy” Ghai. With the legendary Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War as an inspiration, the film serves as a tribute to the 120 brave soldiers of Charlie Company led by the indomitable Major Shaitan Singh Bhati. Farhan Akhtar takes on this intense real-life role, further catapulted by the presence of Raashii Khanna and the deep narration of Amitabh Bachchan. The film also boasts of another formidable ensemble cast like Ankit Siwach, Vivan Bhathena, Eijaz Khan, Ajinkya Deo, etc.
Shot throughout Ladakh and recreated war terrains, the film aims to provide a visually authentic experience, thus providing its production values with an additional justification.
A production budget has officially been confirmed at ₹100 crores, while another ₹15-20 crores has been reportedly spent on marketing and promotion. Considering print costs, advertising, distribution, and exhibitor shares, the industry estimates say that 120 Bahadur needed to gross about ₹200-220 crore worldwide to break even.
Estimated Finances at a Glance
Production Cost: ₹100 crore
Marketing + Promotions: ₹15-20 crore
Worldwide Breakeven Target: ₹200-220 crore
Domestic Requirement: approx. ₹150 crore
Expected Overseas Contribution: ₹30-40 crore
OTT + Satellite Rights: ₹40-60 crore (an important cushion for recovery)
These secondary revenues will be extremely important, particularly if box-office trends turn unpredictable in the first week.
Things favour 120 Bahadur as a business prospect, especially with its nationalistic content, Farhan Akhtar’s intense changeover, and the film’s stunning landscapes in Ladakh. If the film manages to reach ₹200 crore gross worldwide, it would have made its costs back. ₹250 crore would classify it as a clean hit, while anything above ₹300 crore would definitely ensure a position in the blockbuster category.
