The Andhra Pradesh government has officially announced Sankranthi holidays for all government and private schools. Schools will remain closed from January 10 to January 18, 2026. This means students will enjoy a total of 9 days of holidays. Schools will reopen on January 19, 2026. These holidays allow children to visit their native places, take part in traditional celebrations, and relax after busy academic schedules. Many families use this time for travel, family gatherings, and cultural activities.
In Telangana, the official announcement is yet to be released, but it is expected that the holiday pattern will be similar to Andhra Pradesh. According to current indications, students may get holidays from January 10 to January 15, 2026. The government may extend the holidays if needed. Parents and students are waiting eagerly for the final confirmation, which is likely to come soon.
With Sankranthi approaching, many students and families have already started planning their trips. Bus and train tickets are filling up quickly as people prepare to travel to their villages. This shows how important Sankranthi is for Telugu families, as it is a time to reconnect with roots and celebrate traditions together.
Apart from Sankranthi, schools will also observe additional holidays in January. On January 23, schools will be closed for Vasantha Panchami, Saraswati Puja, and Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti. Another holiday will be on January 26 for Republic Day. These extra breaks give students more rest and time to enjoy special occasions.
