Dharmendra’s Unfinished Films: Dharmendra, known affectionately as the He-Man of Bollywood, left behind not just a legacy of a lifetime but also a list of films that lay unfinished when he passed away. Over the years, he has given some of the most memorable performances, and even in his later years, filmmakers hunted him for strong emotional roles. Yet some projects with great promise now stand incomplete; needless to mention, this gives a very bittersweet touch to his career.
Arguably the most ambitious of films under consideration, Tragicians of The Nation was said to have its focus on Dharmendra in the lead role, with intentions of building a socially rooted story around the enormous screen presence he carries. Unfortunately, with the passing of the venerable actor, the project has been rendered somewhat of a lost opportunity for the audience and the creators- entirely.
The legendary Deol family franchise Yamla Pagla Deewana was slated for its fourth installment. The script was almost ready, and fans were waiting to watch Dharmendra share screen space once again with his sons Sunny and Bobby. The film now, however, stands indefinitely shelved into yet another entry of cancelled projects.
Director Anil Sharma’s Apne 2 was meant to be a three-generation drama focusing on Dharmendra and sons Sunny and Bobby Deol in an effort to recreate the emotional magic of the original film, Apne. This sequel is sadly now never to materialize, leaving many fans to ponder what this powerful family reunion on-screen would have looked like.
