Mammootty Opens Up About the Film Selection Process at His Production House

Mammootty Kampany has quite easily created a solid reputation among the Malayalam cinema audience as a guarantee of quality filmmaking. With a proven style record of unique and impacting films, the production house is gearing itself up for its seventh release, Kalamkaval, a crime drama directed by Jithin K Jose, a newcomer. He is well known for crafting the storyline on Dulquer Salmaan’s blockbuster Kurup and makes his directorial debut with this highly publicized film coming to theatres on December 5.

Well ahead of the release, Mammootty had an interview on the Mammootty Kampany YouTube channel, where he discussed and unwrapped to fans how this production house undertakes the projects it produces.

Choosing Stories Others May Not Attempt

”When asked how Mammootty Kampany proceeds in its choosing what next film to produce, the megastar offered a thought-provoking explanation. According to him, most times, the banner goes to works that other producers may not be willing to take up.

These are films that another producer may not be able to make”. said Mammootty. “Or films that someone may not want to make with me. Sometimes they may also be projects not guaranteed commercial success. These are the kinds of films we choose.”

He added that they might choose commercial films with an unusual element added in every film. Whether Rorschach, Kannur Squad, or Turbo, Mammootty pointed out that each film needs to be standout in either way.

Experience Shapes Judgement- Mammootty

“Mammootty recalled having heard more than 5,000 stories in all these years of his life, acted in above 400 films. Certainly, experience like this proves to be useful to decide which projects should be supported.”

Meanwhile, Kalamkaval is arriving towards release with huge anticipation. Distributed across Kerala by Wayfarer Films, the movie has a script by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar. It has a recently certified U/A 16+ and launched the original motion picture soundtrack across major audio platforms.

Fans are eagerly waiting for Mammootty’s return to theatres after an eight-month sabbatical, and the excitement is only growing.
