3 Idiots Sequel Update: According to recent rumors, the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic that stars Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani had announced earlier this year has been put on hold. Hirani and Abhijat Joshi had been co-writing the script so that Aamir could give his final approval, but they intended to begin production on the movie early next year.
Now, it appears that neither Aamir nor Hirani is really pleased with the biopic’s script for the “Father of Indian Cinema.” They have now focused their energy on familiar ground. According to reports, Hirani has nailed the script for the follow-up to his and Aamir’s 2009 hit dramedy 3 Idiots, which also starred Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan, and Kareena Kapoor.
The sequel is set 15 years after the events of the first part’s conclusion, with the characters having parted ways. According to media reports, all four actors will reprise their roles. When Kareena’s Pia, Madavan’s Farhan, and Sharman’s Raju locate Aamir’s Rancho, also known as Phunshukh Wangdu, in a school in Leh, Ladakh, 3 Idiots comes to an end. Before he has the final laugh over Omi Vaidya’s Chatur, Kareena and Aamir kiss and reconnect.

Other iconic characters from 3 Idiots, such as Chatur, Boman Irani’s Viru Sahastrabudhhe aka Virus, Mona Singh’s Mona Sahastrabudhhe, and Javed Jaffrey’s Ranchhoddas Shamaldas Chanchad, may also return to their roles. Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi co-wrote the first segment, which Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Vinod Chopra Films produced.
As per the media sources, Hirani feels like the sequel is even more funny, emotional, and meaningful than the first part. It is also said that Hirani had the sequel idea for 3 Idiots for so long, but cracking a good script that can match the first part’s legacy is very important.
