After Stree 2, it is time for another iconic horror comedy movie. The makers of Stree 2 have announced the upcoming project in their horror universe. The movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The production house announced the news of their other upcoming film. The Stree 2 actress, Shraddha Kapoor is ‘Bloody Excited’ for the movie.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna have joined Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, bringing a romance narrative. On Wednesday, October 30, they announced the title of their next film, Thama. Ayushmann will play a man-turned-vampire, and he previewed his character’s appearance on Instagram a day before the formal revelation, posting a selfie of himself with a vampire filter, red eyes, and blood dripping from his mouth.
According to the source, Thama is set to take place in two distinct eras: a modern North Indian city and the historic Vijayanagara Empire. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the main antagonist, a ruthless man from centuries ago seeking vengeance in the current day. Thama has gained a lot of hype as a new addition to the horror-comedy genre, thanks to its exciting idea and enthusiastic fan base. Meanwhile, Ayushmann, who has been gone from the film for some time, is hoping that Thama can make a successful return to the box office following a spate of recent losses. This film could be his breakout.
Just after the production house announced the news of the movie the Stree 2 actress reacted to it. Welcoming the new on-screen pair, Stree 2 actor Shraddha Kapoor took to Instagram to share her delight. Shraddha Kapoor announced that she is very excited about the movie. She also shared an Instagram story wishing the team the best of luck. “Bloody excited for this” she wrote sharing the glimpse of the movie in her story.
The first look video for the film showed Ayushmann’s name ominously written in blood, backed by the unnerving shrieking of bats in the backdrop. Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara wrote the story for the film, which is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya fame.
The film is set to begin production by the end of 2024. This will be Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s first collaboration. Thama will be released during Diwali next year (2025). Joining Maddock’s horror-comedy world alongside Stree, Stree 2, Munjya, and the Bhediya series. The core cast has been announced, however, the majority of the information remains unknown.
