Bollywood film Haq featuring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam has raised voices against the ongoing debates regarding it. The film, which has been the topic of buzz lately has also invited some accusations for being separatist. However, the major protagonists strongly refute these allegations and assert that Haq is actually an account of truth, justice, and humanity — and not against targeting any individual or community. In the recent media interaction, Emraan Hashmi said that the entire perception of the story is not proper on the part of a viewer community. “Haq is not singling out people or communities. It’s a film about standing up for what’s right, about justice and moral courage,” he said. The actor, who is known to have taken on some layered, but socially relevant roles in recent years. Added that it should stimulate thought but not controversy.
Further, he added that at times like these, any story that questions authority or portrays societal flaws is misinterpreted. “It’s quite a sensitive time, but Haq is about the system and human behavior, not labels,” he clarified.
Yami Gautam Reiterates the Core of the Film
Echoing his thoughts, Yami Gautam added that Haq represents equality and a universal battle for justice. “It doesn’t attack anyone; it highlights common citizens who have the courage to question injustice, whether it’s a small thing or a big issue,” she said.
The actress even praised the script for being deep and current, adding that Haq is one of her more emotionally intense projects to date. “It is a perception-changing and conversation-inspiring film – and that’s what meaningful cinema should do,” added Yami.
Filmmakers Ask Audiences to See Before Judging
Both actors asked viewers to suspend judgments until they had the chance to personally experience the film, as they were sure Haq was pro-unity as well as empathy. The makers also made it quite clear that they make it a point to inspire reflection, not division.
