Was Dhurandhar Shot In Pakistan? With Ranveer Singh’s action-spy thriller Dhurandhar all set for its magnificent release on 5 December 2025, the question that has been at the top of fans’ minds is – was the film actually shot in Pakistan? Directed by Aditya Dhar, a National Award-winning filmmaker, this movie promises quite an intriguing espionage story based on covert Indian intelligence operations. But visuals have led many to assume that it was shot across the border.

The truth? Not a single scene was shot in Pakistan.

Bangkok

Since political barriers stand in the way of filming in Pakistan, the makers created the necessary locations in Thailand. Design by production designer Saini S Johray, a 6-acre set in Bangkok for Pakistan was built. Very carefully, the team reconstructed the narrow, colourful, restive alleys of Lyari-from wall textures and cuttings of newspapers to architectural elements. Months of intensive work by Thai workers and Indian art teams were required to make it unnatural to notice that the environment was indeed inside really Pakistani streets.

This schedule in Bangkok started in July 2024 and is the first major shooting phase on the film.

Ladakh & Amritsar India Pays Much in Scenery and Soul

After Thailand, the team moved on to India, for more such visually riding action.

Ladakh:

For high-altitude action, the barren, snow-laden landscape around Leh was used. Filming happened next to the revered Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, though the schedule was interrupted by over 100 crew members falling sick after food poisoning.

Amritsar:

Before starting the Punjab schedule, Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar took blessings at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The heritage perspective of Amritsar plays a very important emotional context in the film.
Khera village is also said to have been filmed for portions resembling Pakistan, owing to its border-like visuals.

Mumbai: The Home Base of Major Action

A major part of Dhurandhar was shot in Mumbai, including studio work at Filmistan, a dance sequence at the Golden Tobacco Factory and a high-risk stunt shoot on the Dombivli-Mankoli Bridge. Extended parts of the Pakistan set were also created in Madh Island.
