The makers of Mirzapur confirmed that the Amazon Prime Video series will be made into a film. The makers came up with the news in October with a special video featuring the star cast of Mirzapur. Recently during an interview, Ali Fazal revealed the reason behind making the successful series Mirzapur into a film. “The idea is to take it to the people whose story it is. There are many who aren’t fully tuned into OTT,” The Mirzapur actor said about making a movie.
The actor went on to express how Mirzapur resonated with audiences and made it one of the most successful series of Indian Cinema. Ali Fazal went on to talk about the recent adaptation of the show. “We talk so much about stories of the grassroots, but we don’t make them well. This is that one story. It connects with people because it could be a story from your neighbourhood, of people who have been pushed to the wall. This was the first time OTT dived into the depths of our country,” Ali said.
The film is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. The original series creators Puneet Krishna and Director Gurmeet Singh are back to direct the film. The film is likely to hit the theatres by 2026. After completing its theatrical run, the film will be available on OTT platform Prime Video for streaming. The film will be available for streaming after 8 weeks from its release. The film’s announcement has received mixed reactions from the audience. While many fans are thrilled about the reunion of their Favorite characters, Some have questioned whether there will be a need to adapt to the film from the series. But the anticipation for the next chapter for Mirzapur is building and the film is poised to be a huge success.
