Gustaakh Ishq Vs Tere Ishk Mein: Gustaakh Ishq and Tere Ishk Mein both pitched different entertainment experiences at the weekend box office and turned into an interesting battleground. Gustaakh Ishq focused on a very niche audience with an emotional story and intimate scale, meanwhile Tere Ishk Mein arrives as a hefty big ticket with star power and huge buzz across the nation. After just two days of performances, the two films bracketed themselves on Sunday, and there was already a gap between them.
Another modest opening for Gustaakh Ishq on Friday was just ₹0.5 crore because of its limited release reach and again being under-marketed. While the emotional narrative of the film did appeal to certain city pockets, it failed to reach a mass audience. Early estimates on Day 2 put the movie’s collections at around ₹0.45 crore, thus taking the two-day figure to ₹0.95 crore. So if word-of-mouth is holding it back, there’s still potential for growth among urban multiplexes if occupancy improves on Sunday. Even normal standards put Gustaakh Ishq on the bit slower side as compared to its rival’s movie for the weekend.
However, Tere Ishk Mein opened big and then later went on to become a huge box-office draw. Day 1 was a day in which the film collected a hefty ₹16 crore, of which the Hindi version took a lion’s share of almost ₹15.25 crore. Due to a wide release, cast power and hype surrounding its release, the film gallopped along with collections, that on Saturday were estimated at ₹17 crore, giving it a good two-day total of ₹33 crore. Such big numbers within two days firmly set the film into blockbuster status, with a guaranteed huge opening weekend.

Between them it was Gustaakh Ishq which suffered appallingly miserable collections. Between the two, Tere Ishk Mein was clearly the one that ruled at the box office, with a deafening margin. In other words, it is clear that the weekend entirely belongs to Tere Ishk Mein, which is still speeding up with uninterrupted momentum.
