Thamma Budget Vs Collections: Rashmika Mandanna is gearing up to surprise audiences with Thamma, a romantic horror entertainer involving clashing emotions, mysteries, and supernatural chills. The fresh voice in the genre will make his directorial debut from a Maddock Films backing. The movie already made headlines due to its whopping ₹145 crore budget, making it one of the most expensive horror-themed films ever taken up in the Indian film industry.
Post-Animal and Pushpa, Rashmika Mandanna takes a bite out of a cake altogether different: the romantic horror drama. Thamma pairs her opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, with early buzz suggesting a storyline based on love that conquers life and death. The film promises to be an interesting amalgamation of emotional stories, some really haunting visuals, and VFX not often seen in Indian horror.
As reported, Thamma has been mounted on a production budget of ₹125 crores, with an additional ₹20 crores reportedly spent on promotions, digital marketing, and music rights, bringing the total cost to ₹145 crores. Lavish sets, the international VFX team, and set decor have all added to the expense. The movie’s visual grandeur is said to surpass that of Stree 2, making Thamma the costliest film in the history of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe.
Given the massive investment, Thamma will need to gross at least ₹200 crore at the global box office to be deemed a success. For a clean hit, anything between ₹220-₹230 crores (including markets abroad) will yield handsome profits for producers and distributors. In addition, the potential sale of the movie’s OTT and satellite rights should recover nearly 40% of total costs before release.

If Thamma connects with audiences and delivers enough romance and scares. It may well prove to be a turning point for the horror-romance genre in India. Given the charm of Rashmika, versatility of Ayushmann, and the past successful track record of Maddock, Thamma very well could be one of the biggest blockbusters to watch out for in 2025.
