The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be gearing up for its most emotional reunion yet. According to The Cosmic Circus insider Alex Perez, Avengers: Doomsday could bring together not just current heroes, but possibly the original Avengers lineup. Yes, even Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff.
Alex Perez,( fan-run entertainment news) teased on social media that the film will split the Avengers into three teams. “The fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance,” he wrote, adding that “two of the main teams have tension over the mantle… and then add the OG to the mix.” Naturally, fans are speculating this means Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye may return in some form.
The rumored setup includes Sam Wilson’s Avengers, led by Anthony Mackie’s new Captain America. Then there’s the New Avengers, said to be fronted by Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). The third team? Possibly the original Avengers, returning from alternate timelines or multiverse storylines. While Robert Downey Jr. is officially confirmed to return surprisingly as Doctor Doom and Chris Evans’ involvement remains unconfirmed, though insiders claim he may make an appearance.
Given the multiverse-centric direction of the MCU, the return of dead or retired heroes isn’t out of the question. Marvel has used alternate versions of characters before, and Doomsday might be their biggest experiment yet.
