Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba**ds Of Bollywood*, dropped on Netflix and instantly became the talk of the town. The sharp satire and dark humour have won praise from critics and viewers alike. But one scene in particular has social media convinced that Aryan may have taken a direct jab at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede the man behind Aryan’s 2021 arrest in a high-profile drug case.
In the opening episode, an officer crashes a flashy party. He spots someone smoking a joint but lets him go after learning the person isn’t from Bollywood. Seconds later, he arrests another man who isn’t consuming drugs simply because he belongs to the film industry. The satirical punchline hit home for many. Social media erupted with reactions. One user wrote, “The Sameer Wankhede cameo in The Bads of Bollywood* is too good lol. Iykyk.” Another noted, “He sounds exactly like Sameer Wankhede.” Memes and video clips from the episode have gone viral, fuelling online debate.
Before its release, the show was screened for industry insiders and the praise was immediate. Filmmaker Rahul Dholakia tweeted, *“Not Star but *’s are born!! … Kid, you killed it!” Director Sujoy Ghosh also joined the chorus, saying the show brought much-needed laughter and called it a five-star-worthy debut.
