DYK How Many Awards Did Baby and Hanu-Man Take Home at 71st National Awards?

The 71st National Film Awards, announced on August 1, 2025, have brought notable recognition to several Telugu films. Among the top winners were Baby and Hanuman, both of which bagged major awards in this prestigious ceremony.


71st National Film Awards: 

Baby directed by Sai Rajesh Neelam, stood out by winning the award for Best Screenplay, sharing the honor with the Tamil film Parking. Additionally, Baby claimed the Best Playback Singer award for PVNS Rohit, for his soulful rendition of the song ‘Premisthuna’.

Meanwhile, Hanu-Man, a mythological superhero film directed by Prasanth Varma, won the National Award for Best Action Direction. The film also took home the Best Film award in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics), thanks to its impressive visual effects and engaging storytelling.


Apart from Baby and Hanu-Man, other Telugu films that were recognized included Gandhi Tatha Chettu, which earned the Best Child Artist award for Sukriti Veni Bandreddi. Kasarla Shyam also won the Best Lyricist award for his heartfelt song ‘Ooru Palleturu’ from the film Balagam.

Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi, was another standout, winning the Best Feature Film award in the Telugu category.

The biggest winners of the evening, however, were Animal and Sam Bahadur, each securing three awards. Other notable films like Jawan, Pookkalam, Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani, and The Kerala Story also took home multiple honors.

These achievements has marked the growing popularity of Telugu cinema at the national level with diverse genres and narratives garnering recognition. The 71st National Film Awards have certainly been a proud moment for the Telugu film industry.
