The trailer of the film The Bengal Files was recently released in Kolkata. In this trailer, Bengali warrior Gopal Mukherjee was shown as Ek Tha Kasai Gopal Patha. After this, his grandson Shantanu Mukherjee claimed that his grandfather’s image has been shown wrongly, he was a wrestler and not a butcher by profession.
He played an important role in stopping the Muslim League riots in 1946. Shantanu said – “My grandfather was called Kashai (which means butcher) and Patha (which means goat), which is insulting, but it does not mean that he should be presented like this in the movie. I think Vivek should have done more research on this. Where did he get this wrong information from? He never even contacted us. That’s why we are protesting and will continue to do so. We have sent him a legal notice and have also lodged an FIR.”
