Guru Randhawa’s new song ‘Azul’, released on August 6, is under fire for its controversial concept. The video features the singer as a photographer visiting an all-girls school but instead of a lighthearted setting, viewers were shocked by what they described as the sexualisation of school girls. Although the actors in the video are adults, they are dressed and portrayed as minors in a school setting, leading many to call the video “disturbing,” “pornographic,” and “socially dangerous.” Critics say it promotes the harmful idea that sexualising minors is acceptable.
A viral Instagram post by a media outlet criticised the video for objectifying school girls and comparing them to alcohol brands. The post was liked by actress Sonam Kapoor, who subtly signaled her agreement without commenting directly. Other users echoed the sentiment, with one writing, “How is this even allowed in 2025? School kids are watching this and thinking it’s normal.” Another said, “It’s not art, it’s dangerous messaging and it’s targeting the wrong audience.”
Social media users are calling on artists to take more responsibility for the influence they have especially in a country where cinema and music play a powerful role in shaping public behavior. “This kind of content isn’t harmless it normalizes harassment and shifts blame,” one commenter wrote.

Despite the criticism, some celebrities have engaged with the song online. Guru Randhawa recently posted a behind-the-scenes photo with the video’s main dancer and the post liked by Tamannaah Bhatia. Earlier, Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur also liked a clip from the shoot.
Meanwhile, Guru has remained silent on the backlash.
