HHVM Postponed Again: The directorial project of Krish and Jyothi Krishna, Hari Hara Veera Mallu (HHVM). It is gearing up for Pawan Kalyan’s first release in a theatre after holding the position of Deputy Chief Minister for Andhra Pradesh. Schedule date of release: July 24, 2025. The film has been creating a huge buzz amongst fans but has now landed in a pit of controversy. After Bahujan community leaders raised their voice against the portrayal of the film’s central character. Accusing the filmmakers of misrepresenting an important historical figure.
Mudiraj community members held a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club and protested against what they call distortion of the legacy of Panduga Sayanna. A folk hero known as the Robin Hood of Telangana. Sayanna was celebrated for taking from the feudal lords and giving wealth to the poor. Protesters allege that the protagonist of HHVM, Veera Mallu, is a clear reference to Sayanna but is fictionalized and stripped of his real identifying features.
They say it misrepresents Bahujan culture and sentiment, as well as historical truths with commercial additions. Such criticism was made against Mega Surya Productions, the producers of the film, for failing to acknowledge the historical contributions of the community to the country. The protestors also called upon other Bahujan communities to join their movement. Saying they would stop the film from being released if their grievances are not addressed.
Pawan Kalyan plays an outlaw joining hands with the underground to fight the Nizam regime in Hari Hara Veera Mallu. A movie whose trailer promises a grand confrontation against Aurangzeb and a high-profile heist around the Koh-i-Noor diamond. Nidhhi Agerwal and Bobby Deol are also in the lead cast.

After HIHM, Pawan Kalyan is likely to return to shooting for Sujeeth’s They Call Him OG and Harish Shankar’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, whom he agreed to work on during the interim period until Andhra Pradesh’s elections in 2024.
This has created quite a storm even as fans are waiting with bated breath for Pawan Kalyan’s next big return. The issue has cast a shadow over the release of HHVM. In the face of growing commotion among communities, it is to be seen how they will respond if at all and whether the film can proceed fonce planned.
