Instagram Ban on Pakistani Actors Partially Lifted

Pakistani Actors: Following India’s Operation Sindoor targeting terror establishments in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), many Pakistani celebrities openly criticized the Indian government and its military. In response, the Indian government geoblocked the Instagram accounts of several top Pakistani celebrities.

Now, two months after the incident, Indian users have started noticing the return of several Pakistani actors’ profiles, including prominent names like Mawra Hocane. This development has fueled speculation that the government may have lifted the social media ban. Rumors are circulating online that the restriction has been removed, although no official confirmation has been provided.

Accounts Ban Removed on Pakistani Actors?

Instagram users in India can now access the profiles of Pakistani actors Yumna Zaidi, Ahad Raza Mir, Danish Taimoor, and Mawra Hocane. Authorities had previously blocked these accounts after the actors criticized India’s Operation Sindoor and commented on the Pathankot terror attack. On July 2, Indian users began regaining access to these profiles. The change triggered widespread discussion on social media. Users posted screenshots and questioned whether officials had lifted the ban.

One user asked, “Why did the government remove the ban?” Others downplayed the development, calling the actors Pakistan’s “B-list” celebrities. One user commented, “Not necessary! To be honest, I have no idea who these artists are. I’ve never seen any of their dramas or films.” The Ministry of Information and Technology has not released any official statement. Officials have yet to clarify whether Instagram lifted the restriction deliberately or if a technical glitch caused the change.

Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan still blocked:

In India, Instagram continues to block access to accounts belonging to several Pakistani celebrities. Indian users still cannot view the profiles of A-list stars such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Hania Aamir. When users attempt to access these accounts, Instagram displays the message: “Account not available in India.” The platform has stated that it restricts certain content in compliance with court orders.

Meanwhile, Hania Aamir has recently drawn criticism in India for her involvement in Sardaar Ji 3, a Punjabi film directed by Diljit Dosanjh. Several Indian celebrities and film organizations have urged authorities to ban Diljit for collaborating with Hania. The film has not yet been released in India.
