Director Mohit Suri has finally responded to the rumor circulating around Kartik Aaryan’s film with Sreeleela, speculated to be Aashiqui 3-more so as Saiyaara works its magic at the box office. Mohit, who, interestingly, earlier intended to Luciddream his own romantic drama (Saiyaara) as a kind of spiritual successor to Aashiqui 2.

Mohit Suri Responds to Aashiqui 3 reports
Saiyaara maker Mohit Suri, in a heart-to-heart with News 18, said that he was not at all involved with Kartik’s project:

“I call [Anurag Basu] dada, I assisted him; it s not like he stepped into something that was mine… Was too engulfed with Saiyaara. I wish them all luck and praise. But frankly, I don’t know if Aashiqui 3 is being made or not”.

Nonetheless, after T-Series reportedly approached him initially, Mohit proceeded on his script that was shaping into Saiyaara. He reiterated that he has lost track of the project as of now.

On the Aashiqui 2 Legacy
A recollection of how Mohit himself revived the Aashiqui franchise by making Aashiqui 2:

“For me, Aashiqui 2 wasn t just about the producers…it was also about…Mahesh Bhatt… He started the Aashiqui franchise…If he s not there, it s not Aashiqui for me.”

This declaration but solidifies his adulation for the original franchise. Its legacy creators-the very parameter that shapes his opinion of future sequels.

So What Next for Kartik Aaryan & Sreeleela?

Anurag Basu is anyways moving in the direction of taking over a project for Diwali 2025 which, however, holds a certain degree of uncertainty. Basu himself explained that any possibility of postponement is actually connected with the scheduling conflicts of the actor or directors, relating in no way to the success of Saiyaara. The title and situation as Aashiqui 3 are, however, very much up for speculation, with no official announcement whatsoever verifying the employment of the original theme.
