The Mirzapur universe is officially hitting the big screen, and fans are in for a wild ride. Titled Mirzapur: The Film, the cinematic adaptation of the gritty crime saga has kicked off filming in Film City, Mumbai. The biggest buzz? Jitendra Kumar, known for Panchayat and Kota Factory, has been cast as Bablu Pandit, a role originally played by Vikrant Massey.
Massey reportedly turned down the role, citing concerns over the character’s fate. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani respected his decision and began looking for someone who could carry Bablu’s legacy. Jitendra, with his grounded performances and massive youth following, was the clear choice.
Joining the ensemble is TV heartthrob Mohit Malik, who’s making his film debut with this project. Known for hits like Doli Armaano Ki, Mohit expressed his excitement on social media, sharing a warm handwritten note from the producers. “Excited to join the world of Mirzapur! Grateful and looking forward to this journey,” he wrote.
Mohit will portray Lord Shiva in Sony TV’s upcoming mythological show Ganesh Kartikey, making 2025 a major year in his career.
Veteran actor Ravi Kishan, fresh off his critically acclaimed role in Laapataa Ladies, has also joined the cast. Known for his powerful screen presence, Kishan is expected to add serious weight to the storyline.
Fan-favourites return too Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu, and Divyenndu as Munna. With this dynamic mix of old and new, the film promises to be a thrilling extension of the Mirzapur universe.
