Actor-director Rishab Shetty is earning huge praise from the team behind Kantara: Chapter 1, especially from the film’s action director, Arjun Raj. Known for his intense performances and commitment to authenticity, Rishab is once again pushing himself to the limit.
“He doesn’t stop at saying ‘I’ll try.’ He says, ‘I’ll do it till I am alive,’” said Arjun Raj, calling the actor’s energy and determination unlike anything he has seen before. “Rishab trained in Kalaripayattu, sword fighting, and horse riding. He performed all his stunts without a body double, often bare-bodied. No one else could have pulled it off.”
In a world where most actors rely on stunt doubles for dangerous scenes, Rishab stood out with his fearless attitude. Every action scene in the film features him directly bringing realism, risk, and raw emotion to the screen. “His body language is so distinct that no dupe could match it,” Arjun added. “It wasn’t just physical ability it was sheer willpower.”
Kantara: Chapter 1 features one of the largest action sequences in Indian cinema. Over 500 skilled fighters and 3,000 extras were involved in a war scene shot over 45–50 days on rugged terrain. The scene was filmed across a specially created 25-acre set, with both national and international stunt experts designing the choreography. This large-scale effort shows the scale of vision Rishab and the team are working with and why his physical dedication matters so much.
