Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and Bollywood star Aamir Khan created excitement when they announced a large-scale superhero action film. This was supposed to mark Lokesh’s first direct venture into Hindi cinema and promised an international-style action experience. But now, several reports suggest that the project may not go ahead as planned. Neither the actor nor the director has officially confirmed its cancellation, but industry buzz says the film has been put on hold after the lukewarm response to Aamir’s cameo in Coolie.

In Coolie, Rajinikanth played the main role of Deva, a former daily-wage worker who uncovers a crime network after his friend’s mysterious death. Aamir appeared briefly as Dahaa, a powerful syndicate leader involved in organ trade, who confronts the hero in the final scenes. Despite the star power, the cameo did not create the expected impact among viewers.

The plot of Coolie revolves around Deva seeking justice for his friend Rajasekhar while confronting dark secrets linked to his own past. The film features a large cast including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Rachita Ram, and a special dance number by Pooja Hegde. This big-budget entertainer is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan recently starred in Sitaare Zameen Par, a sports comedy drama about a suspended basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled players. The film, inspired by the Spanish movie Champions, became a box-office success. His next confirmed project is a biopic on cinema pioneer Dadasaheb Phalke with director Rajkumar Hirani.

Lokesh Kanagaraj continues to stay in demand in Tamil cinema with multiple high-profile projects. Fans are waiting for an official update from both Aamir and Lokesh to know if their superhero collaboration is truly cancelled or only delayed. Until then, the project remains one of the most talked-about “what next” topics in Indian film circles.
