Mani Ratnam: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Mani Ratnam’s brother and Tamil film producer G. Venkateswaran for allegedly submitting false documents and taking a bank loan. The Chennai special court has recently delivered its final verdict in this case. However, it is noteworthy that the verdict has come 22 years after his death. It is known that GV acted as a producer for many hit films directed by Mani Ratnam, from Mauna Ragam to Dalapathy.
In 1996, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case against Tamil film producer G. Venkateswaran on a complaint from the Central Bank of India. A case was registered at that time for obtaining Rs. 10.19 crore from the bank by submitting false documents. A special court in Chennai has given its verdict in this case that lasted for about 30 years. It has convicted nine accused in the case of cheating the bank. However, the charges against them have already been dropped after the death of Venkateswaran and three other bank officials. The condition of the remaining five people involved in this case is yet to be known.

Suicide Due to Debt Pressure:
It is known that Mani Ratnam’s elder brother Venkateswaran committed suicide on May 3, 2003. It is reported that he died due to debt pressure. Some say that GV, who had taken loans from various producers to make films, could not bear the losses incurred from them. Although he had good connections in the film industry, Tamil producer Manikkam Narayanan said in an interview that no one helped him at that time. It is known that GV faced many difficulties even during his son’s marriage, and finally ended his life by hanging himself.
