‘Next Attack Soon in Mumbai’: Again Firing Reported at Kapil Sharma’s Canada Café

Kapil Sharma’s Canada Café: According to a report by Indo-Canadian Voice, a shooting has taken place at Indian stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma’s Canada Cafe Kaps. This is the second incident in less than a month. A post claiming responsibility from gangsters Goldie Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has gone viral on social media. “Jai Shri Ram… Today a shooting took place at Kapil Sharma’s Kaps Cafe, Surrey. Goldie Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang are claiming responsibility… The next attack will be carried out in Mumbai soon,” the post reads. However, this claim has not been independently verified yet. Surrey police have not yet shared any information about the shooting at Kaps Cafe. More information is awaited.

Again an attack?

The same cafe was the scene of a shooting in the second week of July. The attack occurred less than a month later. According to the Vancouver Sun, police have launched an investigation into the attack. According to the Surrey Police Service, multiple gunshots were heard outside Kaps Cafe at 1:50 a.m. local time. Police said some employees were in the restaurant when the shooting occurred. No one was injured in the incident. The cafe had opened earlier in the day. That morning, at least 10 bullet holes were found in one of Caps Cafe’s windows, while the glass in another window was shattered.

Who’s behind this?

The building that houses the cafe has small shops on the ground floor and residential apartments on the upper floors; however, it is not known how many residents live in the building. A multi-faith centre and two other yet-to-open commercial establishments are located in other units on the ground floor. According to the Vancouver Sun, police officers were collecting evidence at the restaurant, while children were playing outside a daycare across the street, which was cordoned off with police tape.

Spokesperson Staff Sergeant Lindsay Houghton said police had received information from Indian news channels that a Khalistani separatist had claimed responsibility for the shooting.

In a statement, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) said the investigation is still in its very early stages and is “looking into possible links to other incidents and possible motives.” The Vancouver Sun reports that police do not have a description of any suspects and a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined. Houghton added that officers are still speaking to witnesses and trying to collect CCTV footage. “Once this is done, we will have a better understanding of what happened,” he said.
