Prabhas’ Spirit: Fans of Prabhas, and truth be told, nearly every Tollywood enthusiast, have been eagerly waiting for a concrete update from director Sandeep Reddy Vanga on his ambitious cop drama Spirit. While anticipation continues to build, the film has already found itself at the center of rumors, unofficial reports, and even a casting controversy involving Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone.
A while ago, Vanga hinted that Spirit would officially take off in September. Since then, speculation has been rife, with gossip mills working overtime. Recently, an unofficial X handle claimed that the film’s grand launch was locked for September 2, 2025. The “update” went viral within hours, tricking many fans into believing it was confirmed. However, insiders close to the project have clarified that no such date has been finalized, and any official announcement will only come directly from Vanga and the production team. This clarification has cooled the frenzy but has also left fans anxious for an authentic word from the makers.
Adding to the drama is the controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s exit from Spirit. Initially, Deepika was considered for the female lead opposite Prabhas, and discussions had progressed significantly.But, those discussions fell apart when she allegedly refused to deliver dialogues in Telugu.
For a film that thrives on authenticity and aims to cater to a Telugu-speaking audience first, this reportedly did not sit well with Vanga. Despite her stardom, the director decided to part ways with Deepika, ultimately roping in Triptii Dimri as the female lead. The controversy has sparked debates within the industry about professionalism, linguistic adaptability, and the balance between star power and creative vision.
Currently, Triptii Dimri is officially on board as the heroine. Harshavardhan Rameshwar is scoring the music, while production is being jointly handled by Bhadrakali Pictures and T-Series. Reports about Korean actor Don Lee joining the project remain unconfirmed but have added another layer of intrigue. With Prabhas leading this high-octane cop drama, expectations are towering as each day passes on.
