As Ibrahim Ali Khan prepares for his second screen outing with Sarzameen, Prithviraj Sukumaran has lent support by defending the young actor from the harsh onslaught that came his way, regarding his debut performance, where he was seen featured in Netflix’s Nadaaniyan. Speaking candidly in an interview, Prithviraj gave some insight into the very nature of public scrutiny, even for the seasoned legends of the trade. Prithviraj Sukumaran Compares Ibrahim Ali khan To Shah Rukh Khan.
Commenting about the whole Ibrahim backlash, Prithviraj added, “See, Ibrahim is gonna be wonderful in this film, but it will not end there. Hello, if Shah Rukh Khan sir can still be criticized, then how can Ibrahim Ali Khan not be taken apart? Come on. From where I come from, there are such critics for Mohanlal sir and Mammootty sir. Nothing is bigger than that for us in understanding that that is never gonna happen.”
He stressed that rather, an actor would face that in the journey of an actor without fame and legacy.
Praise for Ibrahim’s Preparation
Despite all the ruckus, Prithviraj had only praising words for Ibrahim’s preparation.
Called him “one of the most well-prepared debutants” he’s worked with.
Noting how Ibrahim understood his character arc clearly from day one.
Highlighting prep done with director Kayoze Irani for a year.
Added, “The camera really loves him. He’s a really, really good-looking boy.”
Sarzameen: A Unique Debut
Surprisingly, Prithviraj further revealed that it was Sarzameen that was actually the first film that was shot by Ibrahim, although Nadaaniyan released earlier as well. He called this a “very interesting debut” as it would not fall under stereotypical conditions brought about by star kids.
