Holiday on Coolie Release: One of the great expectations, buzz around Coolie has been at its peak. And fans are talking about the possible public holiday announcement by the Tamil Nadu government on the film’s release, on August 14, 2025. Clearly, official records show that the Tamil Nadu government has not declared a public holiday for the movie. The state holiday list for August 2025 merely mentions Independence Day (August 15) and Janmashtami (August 16), which both follow the film’s release.
Without a government declaration, private firms are fanning the flames of Rajinikanth mania. Uno Aqua Care, a company based in Tamil Nadu, has declared a paid leave holiday for all its employees on August 14. And, as a part of the celebrations of “50 Years of Rajinism,” will also be gifting free Coolie tickets to its employees.
In a fascinating twist, this phenomenon is creating ripples internationally. A Singapore-based firm that employs many Tamils has also declared a paid holiday to its staff on the flick’s release day. Employees are being treated with first-day show tickets and $30 in cash for beverages, truly making it a festival for Rajini fans abroad.

The wave of excitement witnessed goes a long way in proving Rajinikanth’s cultural significance. Governmental support for movie releases is extremely rare. And such an ardent manifestation of interest from private companies halting operations for his film definitely shows Rajini’s prowess to unite people.
So enough said; there’s no state-wide holiday for Coolie’s release. Yet, it will still feel like a festival day among the ardent fans and some companies. The public screenings, paid leave, and free tickets show that Rajinikanth’s Coolie is already making a buzz down south, even before the first screening.
