Months after his YouTube show India’s Got Latent sparked national outrage, comedian Samay Raina is making a grand return with a countrywide stand-up tour titled Still Alive and Unfiltered. The tour will begin on August 15, aligning with Independence Day, and run till October 5, covering major Indian cities.
This marks Samay Raina’s first public tour since the multiple controversies and legal cases linked to India’s Got Latent. The tour kicks off in Bengaluru on August 15, followed by shows in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Pune, before concluding in New Delhi on October 5. Tickets are now live on BookMyShow.
Since its launch in June 2024, India’s Got Latent has remained under fire. In September, the show drew criticism for jokes targeting people with disabilities and speech disorders. In November, it faced backlash over a contestant’s insensitive comment on actor Deepika Padukone’s mental health journey. Earlier this year, another contestant’s remarks on Arunachal Pradesh triggered widespread anger, especially from residents of the state.
The biggest controversy hit when guest judge Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop?” Though the audience responded with cheers, the clip went viral and was met with public outrage. Both Ranveer and Samay faced legal cases over the episode. The matter remains in court. Samay eventually took down all episodes of the show from his YouTube channel.
