Vetrimaaran announced that Simbu will play the lead in his upcoming project, which Kalaipuli S. Thanu will produce. He confirmed that he has put Vaadivaasal on hold for now. The director revealed that Thanu arranged his meeting with Simbu, and with everything now falling into place, Vetrimaaran also addressed the rumors about the film being Vada Chennai 2. “This is not Vada Chennai 2,” he clarified. “Dhanush will be part of that film, along with Anbuvin Ezhuchi, when it happens. However, some characters and elements from that world will appear here as well, since this story is also set in the Vada Chennai universe. The timeline will be similar too,” he added.
Vetrimaaran Also Clarifies About NOC:
The filmmaker directly refuted rumors claiming that Dhanush, the producer of Vada Chennai, demanded money to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Vetrimaaran’s film with Simbu. Vetrimaaran said he spoke with Dhanush and explained that his project depended on the actor, who legally holds the copyright. He added that there’s nothing immoral or illegal about asking for compensation, but clarified that Dhanush left the decision to him and raised no objections. “He didn’t ask for any payment for the NOC,” Vetrimaaran confirmed.
