Soubin Shahir Dubai Event:
Malayalam actor and filmmaker Soubin Shahir, who is currently enjoying the success of Coolie with superstar Rajinikanth, has landed in controversy due to legal troubles connected to the film Manjummel Boys.
According to reports, Soubin was not allowed to travel to Dubai to attend the SIIMA Awards scheduled on September 5, 2025. His legal team had filed a petition in the Ernakulam Magistrate Court requesting permission to fly for the event. They argued that his presence would bring honor to the Malayalam film industry and assured that he would return immediately after the ceremony. However, the court rejected the request, citing his pending fraud case.
The Fraud Allegations
The controversy began in July 2025 when Soubin was briefly arrested by the Kochi police. He was released on bail the same day. The complaint was filed by Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, a businessman from Aroor, Kerala. Siraj claimed that Soubin and the producers of Parava Films, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony, promised him a 40% profit share if he invested ₹7 crore in Manjummel Boys. Although the film became a blockbuster, Siraj alleged that he never received his share of profits.
On the other hand, the producers denied the allegations, stating that Siraj failed to provide the funds on time. This delay, they said, caused disruptions during production. The case is still under court proceedings.
However latest update is that the actor is trying hard to attend the event and may get the permission soon with the help of his lawyer.
Despite the controversy, Soubin’s career remains strong. In Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, he played a negative role alongside Rajinikanth. The film tells the story of Deva, a former laborer who seeks revenge for his friend’s death. The cast also includes Nagarjuna Akkineni as the main antagonist, with Shruti Haasan, Upendra Rao, and Sathyaraj in key roles.
