Sunny Deol Unleashes Fury in ‘Border 2’ First Look, Release Date Moved to January 22

Sunny Deol Is Back in Action

Sunny Deol is locked, loaded, and ready for war in the explosive first look of Border 2. Unveiled on India’s 79th Independence Day, the poster shows Deol in full Army gear, holding a bazooka and roaring into battle. The fiery image quickly ignited excitement among fans. “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar,” Sunny wrote while sharing the poster on Instagram.

Poster Pays Tribute to Real Heroes

The poster shows soldiers waving the Indian tricolour in the heat of battle, echoing the iconic post-Kargil War photo of Indian troops. Gunfire blazes in the background as Deol leads the charge, bringing back the patriotic intensity fans loved in the original Border. Background music in the teaser added to the goosebumps moment for fans, with many calling it “epic” and “another blockbuster in the making.”

New Release Date: Jan 22, 2026

Originally set for January 23, Border 2 will now hit theatres a day earlier — on January 22, 2026 — to take full advantage of the Republic Day weekend. The change aims to maximize box office performance with a longer holiday window.

Meet the Star Cast

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 boasts a powerful ensemble cast. Alongside Sunny Deol, the film features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, and Sonam Bajwa. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, the creator of the original.

Sequel to a Patriotic Classic

The original film made in 1997 was directed by JP Dutta, and is based on the Battle of Longewala (1971). Boder became one of the biggest hits of its time. It earned ₹66 crore at the box office and won several National Film Awards. With Border 2, Sunny Deol seems ready to revive that same spirit  louder, bolder, and bigger than ever. The original featured an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Akshaye Khanna.
