The actress has delved into an old debate-the debate of her intense scene in Baahubali: The Beginning with Prabhas’ Shivudu and how some sections of the audience claimed that the sequence could be equated with rape. She categorically denies such claims.
The intention of that scene was not to portray any kind of violation. It is supposed to show Avantika renewing her connection with her femininity, along an emotional journey and is not a power misuse. It is part of the transform character arc. Tamannaah Bhatia Reacts To ‘Rape’ Comments on Bahubali.
Most recently in a candid interview, Tamannaah expressed bitterness about how people generally judge pure emotions to be bitter:
“Jo itni pure cheez hai, usi ko ham sabse gandi nazar se dekte hain…”
(“The thing that is so pure, we look at it from the dirtiest lens…”).
Thenas she explained that S.S. Rajamouli gave a character of wounded Avantika: strong, but closed emotionally. Shivudu’s transformative actions were to peel away that armor, to help her rediscover love. And the spaces in which to feel it, without his emotional pressure.
”I remember when Rajamouli sir was explaining me that entire scene; he was like, “She is that divine feminine, who is wounded. She is beautiful. She is feminine and is needed to loved. But because of so much hardship in life, she feels that she needs to push everybody away, that she cannot let anybody inside because they would always take advantage of her. So, she holds boundaries. But, here, there is a young man who is merely trying to woo her to make her see how beautiful she is.”
About the Controversy:
Tamannaah maintained that what most consider brutalization is actually a gesture of closeness and emotional healing. According to her the art has been sensitively crafted and should be viewed through the lens of self-discovery, not force or disrespect.
Tamannaah Bhatia rejects all accusations saying that the Avantika-Shivudu scene in Baahubali instigates rape. She clears it shows the cause of women, Avantika while on her path to regaining femininity.
