Mirai Censored: Runtime Revealed, It is too Long?

Mirai Censored: Teja Sajja brings a fantasy action film layered with mythological elements titled MIRAI. Karthik Ghatamaneni directed the film under People Media Factory. The makers scheduled a grand worldwide release for September 12.

The latest update confirms that the film completed its censor formalities and is ready for release. The CBFC awarded it a ‘U/A’ 16+ certificate and fixed the runtime at 169 minutes (2 hours, 49 minutes). This length suits an action film—neither too long nor too short. If the screenplay stays gripping and the scenes and characters carry emotional weight, audiences can watch the entire movie without losing attention.

Can it click with a targeted audience?

Mirai is a mythological action fantasy film, and the makers aim to give the younger generation a never-before-seen experience. Since they produced it on a massive scale, the film must appeal to two or three major audience segments to recover its cost. People’s Media made a smart move by selling the film at a low distribution price, saying they wanted a wide audience to watch it without ticket prices becoming a burden.

Karthik, who earlier directed Eagle with Ravi Teja, expressed confidence in Mirai’s success. He balanced action and characterization in the film and believes it will connect emotionally with viewers. As the trailer promised a visual spectacle, audiences can also expect a feast for the eyes.

Teja’s Smart Reply:

Miari is a pan-India film, and the makers launched promotions across all major cities. The cast and crew flew in and out of cities for these events. During one event, a journalist asked Teja a controversial question: ‘Why do your films always carry a religious angle? We saw it in Hanu-Man and now in Mirai as well. Can you explain why?’ Teja replied, ‘Why don’t we ask when a filmmaker repeats the same love story again and again? Why do we raise this question only when religion is involved? We chose this subject because we wanted to tell our mythological stories to younger audiences in a cool way.’ His response drew applause from the audience. Now, we have to wait and see how his words translate on screen. Mirai hits theatres next week.
