No ‘Ideal Girl’
In an interview he was asked, why did you not portray Mamitha Baiju as an Ideal girl? To which he replied, In reality when you talk to women they too have flaws and insecurities and no girl is ideal in the real world. So when I wrote the character I wanted it to feel real, so I put in some traits so that she doesn’t feel like a doll.
Dude – The Gen-Z film of the year
Dude is a story of a guy who values the feelings of women more than traditional customs. He cares for a woman and goes to any extent to protect that woman. The film follows the protagonist’s point of view, and from his angle the character played by Mamitha appears to be a bit of an indecent girl.
So naturally when the director was asked the question about the ideal girl, his answer made perfect sense.
The Idea of ‘Ideal Girl’
Generally there is a term called ‘Wife Material’ in our traditional coupling custom. Guys tend to choose women who can make the four walls into a home and are very much capable of giving him a family. So in that sense an Ideal girl is a term who values and respects the other person. But this is a far fetched idea of society, because in today’s society women are far too independent and have more control of their lives and the balance is slowly tipping.
Reality at present
Still people are falling in love and starting families but those relationships are built on equal trust and dependence. Not a single person’s ego is above the other person, so when Mamitha’s character in Dude confesses her feelings, the Guy rejects her. After his acceptance she moved on to a different person. Now people may assume that it is not ideal but in reality people have to survive and have every right to be happy.
