Who Was Kalabhavan Navas: The Malayalam film industry is mourning the untimely passing of actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas, who was found dead in his hotel room on August 1, 2025. The 51-year-old entertainer had been staying at a hotel in Chottanikkara, Kochi, where he was involved in the shooting of his upcoming film Prakambanam.
According to hotel staff, Navas was scheduled to check out that morning. When he failed to respond to calls and knocks on his door, the staff entered and found him unconscious on the floor. He was rushed to SD Tata Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Preliminary reports suggest that Navas may have suffered a cardiac arrest. Police officials have confirmed there were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances at the scene. A post-mortem examination will be conducted at Government Medical College, Kalamassery, to determine the exact cause of death.
Kalabhavan Navas began his career with the famous Kalabhavan troupe, known for nurturing talented mimicry artists. He made his film debut in 1995 and went on to appear in several Malayalam films including Junior Mandrake, Hitler Brothers, Mattupetti Machan, and Thillana Thillana. He also made frequent appearances on television and stage shows, building a loyal fan base over the years.

He is survived by his wife Rehana Navas, their three children, and his brother Niyas Backer, who is also part of the entertainment industry. His sudden death has left fans and fellow actors shocked. Prominent names like Dileep, Ramesh Pisharody, and Shaju Sreedhar visited the hospital and paid emotional tributes.
