Why Was Saanvika Uncomfortable in the Kiss Scene with Jitendra?

Saanvika Uncomfortable: One of India’s most popular television programs is Panchayat. With her portrayal of Rinki in the series, actor Saanvika became well-known. Saanvika talked candidly about her initial discomfort with a suggested kissing sequence between her character and Sachiv ji (played by Jitendra Kumar) in an interview with Just Too Filmy. She talked openly about how the scene was changed subsequently.

Kiss Scene with Jitendra Kumar:

When someone asked Saanvika if she felt anxious about filming the kissing scene in Panchayat, she revealed her initial hesitation. “Once the narration ended, no one spoke at first,” she said. “Then, director Akshat approached me and said, ‘We want to include a kissing scene this season.’ He explained that they had added a moment where Sachiv Ji and Rinki share a kiss. Originally, the scene was different. Rinki collapses in the car, and they kiss there.”

Saanvika recalled asking for time to process the idea. “I told them, ‘Give me two days to decide whether I feel comfortable doing it.’ I thought about how Panchayat reaches a wide audience, mostly families.”

How Jitendra Made Saanvika Comfortable:

She admitted, “I felt uncomfortable and worried about how people would react, so I declined at that time. During the shoot, the team removed that scene and replaced it with the tanki scene instead. They assured me they would shoot it aesthetically and not present it negatively. Still, while filming, I felt uneasy.”

She praised Jitendra Kumar for his professionalism and support: “Jeetu is a kind person, he knows how to make you feel at ease.” Saanvika added, “I haven’t spoken to my family about this yet, but they know me well and will understand.”

In Panchayat, set in the fictional village of Phulera, Jitendra Kumar portrays Abhishek Tripathi, an urban engineering graduate who works as the secretary of a rural panchayat office. Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha contribute significantly with their performances in key roles.

Audiences and critics widely praised the first three seasons. However, the fourth season’s debut triggered mixed reactions. Some viewers appreciated the show’s nostalgic tone, while others felt it lost its simplicity and comic charm. Many fans and reviewers have called the fourth season finale the weakest conclusion of the series so far. You can watch Panchayat on Prime Video.
