Bheeshma Parvam Prequel: Screenwriter and director Devadath Shaji gained recognition after writing the screenplay for Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam, the megastar’s first post-pandemic blockbuster. He previously worked as an assistant director on the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Kumbalangi Nights. With Dheeran set to release on July 4, Devadath now makes his directorial debut. In an exclusive interview, he discussed the possibility of a prequel to Bheeshma Parvam, the film directed by Amal Neerad.

Bheeshma Parvam Get a Prequel:
“I had considered a prelude to the action drama that will be released in 2022,” Devadath revealed. In Bheeshma Parvam, characters like Paily and Anjootti were only mentioned. If there was any chance of doing a second installment, the storyline in my mind would be a prequel that described these people,” he said. The director added that no plans for a sequel are in the works at this time. “It’s an Amal Neerad movie, and it has everything of his distinctive aesthetic. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him. He must thus be the one to bring up the topic of these characters’ resuscitation or the creation of a sequel,” he added.

Upcoming Comedy Drama?

Devadath expressed his love for humor and revealed his wish to make his debut with a comedy drama. He described Dheeran as a full-fledged comedy ride that follows an outlier hero from the small community of Malayattoor. After the film’s theatrical release, he said he looks forward to hearing what people think. He acknowledged the uncertainty of audience reactions, stating, “I think the beauty of film lies in its unpredictability.”

Devadath also shared his excitement about working with a mix of seasoned Malayalam actors and younger talents in Dheeran. He brought on board veteran performers like Manoj K. Jayan, Ashokan, Sudheesh, Jagadish, Vineeth, Siddharth Bharathan, Rajesh Madhavan, and Abhiram Radhakrishnan to play important roles in the film.
