AI startup Astronomer faced massive public attention after a Coldplay concert in Boston exposed an affair involving two of its top executives. During the concert’s kiss-cam segment, the camera focused on CEO Andy Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot. Both attempted to hide their faces. Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin jokingly commented, “Either they are having an affair or they are just very shy.” The moment went viral. Both Byron and Cabot resigned days later. Reports later revealed that both were married to other people at the time of the incident.


Gwyneth Paltrow Joins as Temporary Spokesperson

In a surprising move, Astronomer hired actor and businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow as a temporary spokesperson. Paltrow, who is the ex-wife of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, appears in a promotional video titled “Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.” She begins the video by addressing the company’s 300+ employees and quickly shifts the conversation to Astronomer’s products. “We’ve gotten a lot of questions in the last few days,” she says. A viewer-submitted question reading “OMG! What the actual f***” flashes briefly before being cut off by Paltrow’s calm explanation about the company’s data automation services.

Promotional Video Sidesteps Scandal

The tongue-in-cheek video avoids addressing the scandal directly. Instead, Paltrow lists Astronomer’s achievements and invites viewers to its upcoming “Beyond Analytics” event. When a second question about PR surfaces, it too is cut short. Paltrow smoothly redirects the focus, stating, “We will now be returning to what we do best delivering game-changing results for our customers.” The video ends with a cheerful, “Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”

Public Reacts to Bold Marketing Strategy

Fans and users on social media quickly responded to the campaign. The story continues to gain traction as Astronomer moves forward under new leadership.
