Bangkok Market Mass Shooting: An unfortunate incident of mass shooting occurred on Monday at the Or Tor Kor market in the heart of Bangkok in Thailand, resulting in at least six fatalities, including that of the shooter. The tragic event has apparently shaken the very foundations of a nation that now fears for its citizens’ safety in one of Bangkok’s most bustling marketplaces. The market, famous for fresh produce and local delicacies, saw pandemonium break loose as gunfire erupted in bright daylight.
As per police reports, whoever the suspected shooter was, he grievously shot and killed four security personnel at the market. The Erawan Emergency Medical Centre, which keeps track of the admissions into hospitals in the city, confirmed a woman had also perished in the attack. Subsequently, the assailant shot himself in apparent suicide before the police could lay hands on him.
According to Reuters, Deputy Commissioner Charin Gopatta of the Metropolitan Police Bureau stated, “Now, with the death of the shooter, a total of six people have lost their lives.”
The shooting motive is still unverifiable. .Meanwhile, an investigation exists on the shooter’s history, mind state, and alleged grievances. Preliminary reports seem to indicate that when he started shooting, the market was busy with shoppers and workers.

Condolences across Thailand have poured out as part of mourning for victims and their families. In the coming days, Prime Minister and other officials are expected to hold an immediate addressing of security in markets and public places.
