Bank Holiday Today:
December has just begun, and many people are checking whether banks will remain open on the first day of the month. Every year, December comes with several holidays for banks due to festivals, state events, and weekends. So before visiting your bank branch, it is important to know whether December 1 is a working day or not.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks will be closed in only two states on December 1. These states are: Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland
In Arunachal Pradesh, banks will remain closed due to Statehood Day, and in Nagaland, branches will be shut because of Swadeshi Faith Day. Both are state-specific holidays, so banks will not operate in these regions. People living in these states should reschedule their plans or use online banking if they have urgent work.
However, there is no bank holiday in the rest of the country. All bank branches in other states will remain open as usual. Customers can visit their banks for deposits, withdrawals, passbook updates, loan queries, and other services.
Even though banks remain closed in a few states, online banking services will continue without any interruption. You can make online payments, transfer money through UPI, use internet banking, check account details, and complete most tasks from your phone or computer.
This means you do not have to depend on a physical visit to the branch for basic services. ATMs across the country will also remain operational.
As per the RBI calendar, banks will have around 18 holidays in December, including state-wise holidays, second Saturdays, fourth Saturdays, and Sundays. It is important to check the holiday list for your specific state because holidays vary from state to state.
