BC Bandh Continues in Telangana: Bus and Auto Services Affected


BC Bandh in Telangana: The BC Bandh, organized by the BC IKA demanding a fair share of reservations for Backward Classes, continues to impact normal life across Telangana. Except for essential services, most sectors are observing the bandh.

Key Highlights of the BC Bandh


Widespread Support:

1. The bandh has received support from multiple political parties, including the Congress, BJP, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), CPI, CPM, Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), CPI (M) New Democracy, and Maoist parties.

 

2. Various BC associations, MRPS, Mala Mahanadu, tribal, minority, student, and public organizations have also extended their support.

Protests Across the State:

BC associations staged protests in front of RTC depots in several district centers. Leaders blocked buses from leaving the depots and called on shop owners and business establishments to join the bandh.

Transport Disruptions:

1. RTC buses remained confined to depots in many areas, including Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, and Vikarabad.

 

2. Around 125 buses were stranded at the Kukatpally bus depot, leading to severe inconvenience for commuters.

 

3. Major depots such as Uppal and Chengicherla saw protesters preventing buses from leaving.

 

4. Roads in several parts of the city appeared deserted due to the bandh.

Tension in Dilsukhnagar:

1. Protesters staged sit-ins in front of RTC bus depots and on main roads, disrupting traffic. Leaders from multiple parties, including the Congress, and representatives from caste groups and organizations participated.

 

2. A brief altercation was reported between BC leaders and the police.

Political Leaders’ Participation:

1. BJP MP Etela Rajender joined the dharna at the Jubilee Bus Stand in Secunderabad.

2. Telangana BC IKA leaders held a sit-in at MGBS, blocking several buses.

3. BRS leader Srinivas Goud participated in protests at the Mahabubnagar RTC depot.

4. Similar demonstrations were reported at Nizamabad and Vikarabad depots.
