Coolie vs War 2: Rajinikanth Leads the Charge at the Box Office

The upcoming box office clash between War 2 and Coolie on Independence Day is generating major excitement. However, early ticket sales show that Rajinikanth’s Coolie is dominating the advance bookings, leaving Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s War 2 behind.

According to data from Sacnilk, Coolie has taken a significant lead with an impressive Rs 10.26 crore gross, selling 4.91 lakh tickets across India. The Tamil version alone contributed Rs 10 crore, driven by Rajinikanth’s immense popularity in the South. The Hindi version contributed around Rs 5 lakh, with the Telugu and Kannada versions adding Rs 1.4 lakh and Rs 42,000, respectively.

In contrast, War 2 has grossed Rs 34.34 lakh from 9,295 tickets sold so far. The Hindi 2D format leads with Rs 31.3 lakh, followed by the Tamil and Telugu versions, contributing Rs 1.33 lakh and Rs 72,180. The Hindi IMAX format has also seen a strong demand, with Rs 87,360 from just 97 tickets.

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan as Agent Vikram and Jr. NTR as the rogue Kabir, promises an action-packed global thriller. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it’s the sequel to the 2019 hit, continuing the YRF Spy Universe’s storyline.

Meanwhile, Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, sees Rajinikanth return as Deva, an ageing gold smuggler. The film revolves around his attempt to revive his old mafia crew using stolen tech hidden in vintage golden watches, which triggers a dangerous world of crime and chaos.

With Coolie leading the advance ticket sales, all eyes are on August 14 to see how the Rajinikanth vs. Hrithik–Jr NTR box office battle unfolds.
