Mukesh Ambani is the chairman of Reliance Industries. He made a unique decision for the fifth year in a row. He did not take any salary again. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he chose to give up his pay. This was his personal decision. Many people noticed this move. It gained wide attention. Ambani and his family did not get any salary. But they still received sitting fees. They also got commissions as board members of the company.

Mukesh Ambani Salary:

This decision was disclosed in the annual report of Reliance Industries. The company noted that the pandemic had severely impacted businesses and economies, prompting Ambani to renounce his salary from the 2021-22 financial year onwards. Before this, Ambani’s annual remuneration was capped at ₹15 crore, the maximum limit he had set for himself.

In addition to his salary, Ambani has not received other perks such as allowances, advance payments, retirement benefits, or stock options. However, the company continues to cover the expenses related to his travel, accommodation, and security. His family members, including his children, also received commissions and sitting fees in line with their roles in the company.

Ambani’s daughter, Isha, and sons, Akash and Anant, joined the Reliance board as non-executive directors in 2023. They earned significant sitting fees and commissions for their roles. While Mukesh Ambani’s personal income has remained unaffected, his family continues to benefit from the company’s financial structure.

As of 2023-24, Mukesh Ambani and his family hold a 50.33% stake in Reliance Industries. Despite his lack of salary, Ambani’s wealth remains substantial, with his net worth estimated at \$103.3 billion, securing his place among the top billionaires globally.
