Heavy Rain Alert in Telangana:
Telangana is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next three days as per the Hyderabad Weather Center’s warning. They made a way for intense rainfall across many districts. The state has been put on an orange alert for Wednesday with heavy rains anticipated in several districts including Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial and Mulugu. Yellow alerts have been issued for districts such as Nirmal, Karimnagar, Khammam and Mahabubnagar and it indicates a possibility of moderate rainfall in these areas.
Some areas have already experienced significant rainfall in the last 24 hours. Tandur in Vikarabad received 11.18 cm of rain while Daulatabad recorded 10.68 cm. Rains have submerged hundreds of acres of crops in some parts of Vikarabad by affecting local farmers. The rains also caused severe flooding in low lying areas and many homes in colonies were flooded.
The continuous rain has created traffic issues in Hyderabad where several roads were flooded causing jams and inconveniences for commuters. Also weather has also led to tragic events. In Asifabad a 55 year old man was killed by a lightning strike while his son was injured.
The Srisailam Dam gates have been reopened due to increased water inflow. The dam is receiving 90,560 cusecs of water and water is being released through the gates. The water level at the dam has reached 883.70 feet nearing its full capacity of 885 feet. Other dams such as Nagarjuna Sagar are also seeing significant water inflow.
Authorities have taken steps to manage the water levels and prevent further damage.
